Interfaith
Central Reform Temple is truly committed to the full and unconditional inclusion of all people from various religious and cultural backgrounds. This has been a core commitment of our congregation from its founding as an inclusive, accessible and welcoming home for diverse families and for individual spiritual seekers of all backgrounds.
Our worship is primarily in English, and all Hebrew prayers and singing are consciously offered in both languages. Our understanding of Jewish identity is an embracing focus on shared spiritual and ethical values – rather than ethnic pride, heritage or cultural traditions. Our rabbi was recognized long ago by Time Magazine as a leader on the key issue of interfaith weddings.
Non-Jewish partners and spouses are considered full members of our congregation, with no distinctions or limitations – and are among our most committed members and leaders. We proudly proclaim Central Reform Temple to be “a House of Prayer for ALL people!”
If you have been looking for a Jewish congregation of like-minded people, who share your questions, interests and experience as an interfaith family or as an individual exploring Judaism for yourself, we are confident you will immediately feel at home at CRT!
From one of our members:
One of the things that surprised me the most was that my non-Jewish partner was so welcomed by the community. Previously I had come to temple alone as I didn’t think he would enjoy the service or relate to the members. At CRT we were welcomed and embraced from day one!
